Find out how much you can save by going solar in the Beehive State

    Want to lead Utah's
    transition to solar energy?

Enjoy all of the benefits of simple solar ownership.

The great state of Utah is home to 5 national parks, the renowned Sundance Film Festival, some of the world's best powder, and the largest saltwater lake in the Western hemisphere. It's also one of the sunniest states in the country, which is why residents are beginning to adopt solar en masse.

Sunny skies are not the only reason Utahns are going solar - reducing one's carbon footprint and one's dependence on traditional sources of utility power, like coal and natural gas, is another great reason to join the rooftop revolution. In addition, the opportunity to save money through solar ownership should be the icing on your jello! Homeowners are eligible for a 30% Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) when they choose to go solar. This means that you can realize substantial savings through solar ownership by deducting 30% of your system's price from what you owe Uncle Sam. Utah also offers a state tax incentive up to $2,000 on your state tax liability. As if these tax credits aren't incentive enough, utility companies in the state offer Net Metering programs to compensate you for any excess energy produced by your solar system.

In the home of the Utah Jazz, Dividend Solar's EmpowerLoan helps make solar ownership a slam dunk!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Utah is one of the top states to go solar and maximize your savings. Aside from saving money on your electric bill, there are three other key incentives that help going solar in Utah make sense: 1) the 30% federal tax credit, 2) the State Tax Credit up to $2,00 and 3) net metering.

First, the federal government offers a 30% tax credit which is available in all 50 states. This credit is applied to the federal taxes you pay each year, thereby lowering the net cost of your solar system. This credit is a great benefit of going solar: money that you would otherwise pay in taxes can now be used to own your solar system sooner. It is important to note that you can only reap the benefits of the federal tax credit* – which can cover up to 30% of your system's cost – if you own your system directly (instead of leasing it or choosing a Power Purchase Agreement). With the Dividend Solar EmpowerLoan, you own your system and you get all of the economic benefits of going solar in Utah.

Secondly, Utah's state tax credit covers up to $2,000 of the system cost and can be used as a credit on your state tax payments.

Finally, like many other states, Utah utilities have Net Metering policies which allow homeowners to be credited for extra energy fed back to the power grid. If designed optimally, a homeowner can expect to offset 100% of their current electricity use while also having some left over to sell back to the grid.

The combination of the 30% Federal Tax Credit, the State Tax Credit up to $2,000, and the ability to offset the high cost of electricity from your utility company make going solar in Utah a slam dunk.

When you begin to generate your own solar power, your utility bill can drop significantly. How much you can save will depend on the size of your solar system, your electricity usage, your current utility rates, and other factors. Our team and partners can design a system for you using remote assessment tools, and can present you with a system designed specifically for your home to give you a sense of your expected solar savings.

Working with the best solar installers in Utah, Dividend Solar offers our customers a better, simpler way to go solar and save money on their utility bills.
